Fred, it is not your fault. They are the ones daft enough to, constantly, leave sausages where you can reach them.

Don’t blame Fred Mrs. Dear he didn’t put them out where he can reach them.

Yep! Caught in the act, but what’s a fella supposed to do when sausages are left there just begging to be snatched? Sometimes you have to wonder if Dear will ever learn to put those sausages up where you can’t get them because sure as the sunrise, Fred, you won’t be developing any willpower.

Where’s the kitty? Fred could have him push the sausages off the counter, and then blame him!

It’s probable that every time Alex Graham was stumped for a topic he used the sausages on the counter gag.:)

I’m also surprised that the Dears haven’t figured this one out. I once dog sat for a trio of English Shedders. The largest one, Piper, was large enough to “counter surf”. On my first day with them, she knocked a large jar of peanut butter off the shelf, chewed it open, ate it all and deposited it on the carpet out of both ends. 8^\>. That was the last time I left food close enough to the edge of the counter to be in her reach.

As we say on behalf of our male Greyhound when he is nosing things on the counter: “I’m only checking it!”

Once is understandable, twice even, but continuously it’s their own fault and deservedly so.
