I guess this one will meet with the censors approval…

Regarding that “500 Years of Women’s Portraits” video, anybody who has a Macintosh can experiment with creating similar morphing effects with the following piece of free software:

It can output video files which can then be imported into iMovie or whatever, and it can also output animated gifs.

One hint:

In order to avoid having your backgrounds get all weird on you, be sure to place lines even in the negative spaces, and frame your entire image with lines along its outer edges that don’t change their position between the starting and ending pics.

I’ve used this software in many of my videos. Here’s a nice, simple one that I made of Mississippi Governor Haley Barber morphing into Ana the alien lizard queen from “V.”

I remember (this is how old I am) Super Elastic Bubble Plastic. It actually worked.

I also remember Papermate coming out with a pen with erasable ink a number of years ago. It was a little messy, but you could erase the ink.

GoComics are fuddy-duddys. I think they did take down one Sherpa comic with fish making some rather adult comments at times. Or most of the time. The banana joke was just funny. Anyone we can complain to at Go Comics to lighten up?

As for insect sushi - nah-ah. Just does not turn me on. but then Sushi does not ring my ell either.

I think the banana gag was just a bit too graphic. Comparing that gag with some of the stuff that gets by on the “Argyle Sweater,” the banana was mild. But it was visual.

Perhaps this missive from the GoComics Prude Unit will necessitate mustering the TDL??? Where is Rotifer when we need him????

Logic would suggest that you’d have to be able to understand the implication, and possibly to have seen the W. C. Fields movie (although the line has become more pop culture) before you could be offended (or not). If you meet that criterion, you should be able to decide.

However, logic would also suggest that the word, “darn” would not be bleeped. bleeep it.

On the off-chance that the GoComic Culture Nazis read the comments and take note - you’re wasting your time trying to ‘tone down’ Teresa. She doesn’t just like to go “there”, she likes to go everywhere – and sometimes we don’t even know where ‘there’ is… which is what makes it so fun!

You may not be able to see Francine again…ever, but at least you have her complete underwear collection to remember her by.

What a shame about being admonished by gocomics. I for one look forward to your strips. A number of other strips seem stale and unoriginal. We will never say that about Frog Applause.

Teresa, remember your “plausible deniability.” Your pictures were of bananas, the dialog was what anyone might say to someone else. It’s those guys who have the dirty minds!!

Funny there’s been no mention of Neal’s husband, Roald Dahl, in all the news coverage I heard yesterday. There was one mention of the important role her husband played in her stroke recovery but didn’t even mention his name! Go figure.

I remember Super Elastic Bubble Plastic too.

It made kind of sloppy looking, rigid, oddly shaped balloons. Regular balloons were much better, and probably cheaper as well.

Someone among the PTB at gocomics needs to (a) get his or her mind out of the gutter (or learn to enjoy being there, as the rest of us do), and (b) get a life. Please don’t “tone down” this comic!

As Brooke put it, Teresa must be guilty of what some reader/editor is thinking. The she-banana ought to be able to tell that the he-b. is glad to see her simply from the broadness of his grin–or is that his leer?

Naturally phallic-shaped fruit are nowhere near as blatantly suggestive as the binomial/reciprocal phone number “Ignatz Mice” asked the operator for in a 1939 or ‘40 Sunday Krazy Kat in order to reach “Krazy” to ask him/her for a “date”.

I complained about censorship yesterday, so today let me digress. For those who think they have a talent for web-based art (or who wonder if they do), deviantART has added a web-based drawing application - even someone with no artistic talent (like me) can do impressive things on the screen.

Hey Ushindi, have you ever tried the free program Paint.NET? It’s an image editor similar to Photoshop. It can be somewhat complex if you’ve never used an image editor, but if you’ve got time, I strongly suggest that you do the tutorials. I’ll see if I can shrink something up for here as an example.

How do I become an Invited reader?

It doesn’t matter, even if you are logged into your gmail/blogger account, you still can’t get the blog page, on the subject of censorship of that FA strip, if I was a young kid, I’d have probably laughed at it. This one from XKCD is relevant.

Boy this sure is a day for disappointments. First I read that this week might be the end of the New Adventures of Queen Victoria and then I can’t get to the Frog Blog! Thank goodness I could still get my Pibgorn fix. Anybody know what’s going on with the Frog Blog?

Actually passed on Frog Blog referals to English profs for use in classes on ramance period literature. I need to get back to the blog. There are people involved in shaping young minds that really need your help.

I think the blog has been blocked by overzealous GoComics’ censors sticking their fingers where they don’t belong.

@Oxnate I doubt it. The blog is on an entirely separate site, with (AFAIK) no connection to GoComics.

And if The Powers That Be at GoComics were going to block the blog, why didn’t they just block the link to the blog here, or even take down the entire “Frog Applause” strip?

Can’t say I wanted a Google account but I found a way around giving them my cell number and opened one anyway… all I found was an old blog I abandoned years ago… I’m still not an invitee. C’mon man! I’m jonesin’ bad… been checking the blog a couple times a day for the past year and now I have to go cold turkey!

Okay, I went through all their dumb steps (about fifty I think) including getting a text message password on my cell phone that I use about once every twenty years. Then after all that, it told me that I wasn’t invited!!! Sigh…

For the people who haven’t been through this before, just getting a Google account means nothing.

You have to be an invited member (with a password) for the blog in question (the Frog Blog, in this case).

Since none of us have yet been invited, and have no password for the F B, we simply can’t join. Hopefully, something will soon be posted to let us know what exactly is going on…
