Well… they’re living in a house and not on the street. Garfield’s living on a steady diet of lasagna and not looking for scraps in garbage cans (unless he wants to) or begging from strangers. So… yeah. I’d say they’re living quite well. Garfield has no right to complain.
Jon has indeed done well in life. Garfield eats his lasagna, Garfield takes a good laugh at him, sometimes Garfield wakes him up and so on and so forth. Those are things that Jon has done well in life.
Sure Garfield is doing well in life, but what about Jon? Other than having a job as a cartoonist and presumably making enough money, as well as having Liz as a girlfriend, he often fails at life.
