According to Monty Python’s “Bruces’ Philosopher’s Song” they all liked a drink.

Pythagoras may have been a great mathematician, but he thought beans were where human souls resided while awaiting reincarnation.

As a genius, he didn’t know beans.

None of thoze guys were cats. Unlike humans and dogs, being a vegetarian would literally kill Bucky, so I’m not inclined to fault him for not following the dietary restrictions of a different species with different dietary requirements.

Bucky would probably like Diogenes the Cynic. He was surly and abrasive, and no vegetarian; he had no objection even to eating roadkill (one of the stories is that he died* from eating some bad raw octopus). Just don’t tell Bucky that “Cynic” comes from the Greek for “dog” (kynikoi, literally, “doglike ones”).

*Another story says Diogenes committed suicide by holding his breath until he died.

Why do all the tasty savory things of life Kill you? Seems to be the master plan live longer when you don’t enjoy it as much. I appreciate all the people who feel compelled to respond to this post in a negative manner. Save yourself from Carpel Tunnel. Suffer the deprevation of wanting to lecture me.

A notorious German leader was also a vegetarian. Correlation isn’t causation.

A butcher shop before refrigeration could influence vegetarianism.

Are there real historical sources that say that the Greek philosophers were vegetarians?
