if Boo and Del were going in opposite directions and she made a left in front of him, wouldn’t he be approaching from the passenger side? (Also congrats to dadjo for first noticing Del’s lights were off.)
Well look at Boo being all responsible in P1. Fat lot of good it’s gonna do her. It also kind of looks from the angle of her car she might be thinking of turning right. Guess she should have.
No wonder she’s about to get hit. She can’t keep her eyes open long enough to turn the wheel.
We’ve waited for over a year for Boo to bite it in a fiery crash. We’re finally about to be right. There goes the no-hitter. WUD!!!
If a car is coming at you, in your lane, then flashing lights, honking horn, anything to get the attention of the driver, who may be drunk, falling asleep, texting, from England, is “normal”.
Pterodactyl poo on front windshield, headlights off, this collision is gonna knock the freckles off Boo. Nah, Delbert will swerve right missing our anti heroine, then crashing into a Swifti Mart self serve gas pump igniting a brilliant explosion. I can hear The Ohio Players “Fire” over Swifti Mart’s outdoor speakers.
Way back in the Joel Frost era, when I first attempted driving, flashing your lights at an oncoming car was a way to let them know that THEIR lights were off.
First, a shout out to Mopman for yesterday’s alien reference. Also, their is an upside. If Boo’s car is totaled, maybe she’ll get a new one with a working catalytic converter. Her current one—which looks nothing like her original Jeep—produces more exhaust than a VW diesel.
See, it’s all Mom’s fault. If she hadn’t forgotten the bread and milk, Boo would have come straight home from the Bucket and this wouldn’t have happened.
Oh, P2 is supposed to be Boo’s turn out of the Swifty Mart parking lot and the road is so dark she can’t see an oncoming car? Or does Del going the wrong way on a one-way street in addition to having his lights off so Boo only looked right? So confused.
I must commend Mr. Whigham for his rendering of doomed Boo in P3. That’s a great expression, and she looks about 5 years younger than in P2. Ramp up the pathos!
I find the scenario being imagined here to be HIGHLY unlikely. For how many years now have vehicles always had many lights forced to be on? Is this guy driving a car that is older than Boo?
Just thought of something…. What if Mr. Bader swerves and takes the brunt of the damage. Bet Barry then blames Boo for his father’s demise/injuries … although his father wasn’t supposed to tank up (himself) before leaving. My guess is Barry mouths off. Ken threatens to turn him into a compact and Gil will have a brief appearance to make all good with the world now that the Valley title is way out of contention.
Have they never heard of streetlights in Milford? Even on the most deserted highway, a gas station will have the area around it lit up. If it really is that dark, Del not only must have incredible night vision, he must not be impaired at all.
Wow, today’s strip got people excited. I didn’t get to it until almost 1pm and there were 37 comments already.I’m thinking the confusion over Boo appearing to turn right in P1 and it mentioning her turning left in P2 is that those two panels are not seconds apart. P2 is somewhere later on her drive, not coming out of the S-Mart lot. Yeah, I’m defending the writer/artist for once. There better be a collision tomorrow, if one of them swerves out of the way I’m calling a massive BS, since in P2 the cars are about 3 feet apart. And speaking of BS, Mopped Up Thorp is dishing out its usual helping of it today.

“Stop flashing your lights because I’m in my lane?” On what planet do they use their lights to indicate someone is out of their lane?

I’m hoping for a miracle. Maybe that rugby player can jump out and knock Del’s car out of the way.

P3 is the look Tru(e) likes to see. Too bad he won’t be seeing it again. Actually Boo needs to survive to keep the storyline going.

Next week, Milford’s Second baseman comments: “some stupid, skinny Gnu made my dad a murderer.” Hilarity ensues.

I think the answer to what I asked is still “yes” regardless of the premise not being the correct interpretation of what is depicted in P2.
