Who’s saying “Sure. I’ve got a minute”? I suppose it’s Mr. Station Manager, but that might be the weirdest quote placement yet. Or maybe Robby is talking to himself.
Chef Robert returns today in panel two. He obviously wants to start a radio cooking show and tap into the lucrative WDIG market. WDIG… part of the Momma Carlson radio network.
P1, Robby/Bobby starts his one-man call the school campaign to get Gil fired. Idiot!
P2/3, Did R&W use a random word generator for these two panels? They make less sense than this strip usually does. At least we have a big hand in P2 to save the day.
P1 She could get a job a most customer service departments. “Let me have your phone number and I will have someone get back to you (‘I can write without looking at my note pad’)”
P2- Isn’t WDIG Station Manager and Milford business tycoon Wildcat Maris? The same individual who graciously retained the services of one Marteen Moon after his on the air tirade fueled by the antics of Pirate Boy Duncan Levin?
P4: “Do you have your mornings clear from 5:30am to 10:00am for the next five years? I’d like to offer you my services for the morning show timeslot since I’ve quintupled your listeners from 5 to 25.”
OK, some seem confused and some seem pretending to be confused by the odd word balloon placement in panel 3. That upper balloon belongs to panel 2 and is spoken by the man at the desk.
That “Sure. I’ve got a minute.” It hangs above panel 3 seems to be pointed toward B/Robby in panel 2. The problem is that it’s just pointed “off panel” to suggest that someone not in the 3rd panel is speaking. R/Bobby is in the third panel, so the off panel speaker has to be the manager. The wording logically follows from his balloon in panel 2.
The manager’s two balloons should have been combined into one in panel 2, as…
“The way you’ve been helping light up the phone lines? Sure, I’ve got a minute.”
That was in response to the understood but not depicted question from B/R Howry in the moment when he approached the manager. He apparently requested an audience and may have simply said, “Excuse me. Have you got a minute?” The hypothetical missing panel would have contained that balloon. Call it panel 1.5 if you like.
Then everything flows logically. If you were actually confused, you’re welcome. If you were only playing at confusion, carry on.
In all reality , P 1 I love how when Dr Pearl ’s secretary hears the name Coach Thorp mentioned her brain thinks Idiot. She must be a disgruntled fan .

It would be a cruel twist if B Robby was going for Marty’s job.

I guess Gil bashing is a career in Milford. But do they really need two? I have to keep reminding myself this is HS sports.
