P1: Whose else’s mother walks kids to their first day at middle or high school? P2: Tear in Mimi’s eye is a beautiful touch. P3: Things just got real interesting. P4?
Oh Gawd, they’re EVERYWHERE!! When do we find out that they’re all a-holes like their dad? Or are we gonna have a do-over on that and find out they’re all now perfect?
Not buying this story line. Mimi is (was?) a coach herself, and she knew who-what Gil was before marrying him. After all this time she suddenly feels neglected? If anyone should be simpatico it’s the two of them. And up until change in writers, they were.
His comment that it’s across from his old class, like he’s relieved by the familiarity, made me think he might be a kid given to anxiety problems? Maybe his mom isn’t over protective here, but needed to walk him in/reassure him or else he would never go in by himself. The comment about having his mask might be a clue that psychological toll of being out of school and worried about disease so long during Covid. On the other hand, he seems completely at ease meeting the new boy, not anxious at all—so maybe he has other issues!
P-4: (Either kid) “I can’t wait for Milk and Graham Cracker break. Do you think Ms. Flora will read another chapter about Paul Bunion and Babe the Blue Ox?”
So Jami will be best pals with Luke’s kid. Will Keri be pals with Luke’s other kid? Which will drive Gil nuts as BHHL drives him nuts during the school year. And speaking of nuts, you’d have to be nuts to not read today’s episode of Mopped Up Thorp.
Coaches Held Hostage: Coach Kaz, Day 69. I’m going to leave the low-hanging fruit alone and instead focus on 1969. Woodstock and the moon landing have to be among everyone’s top two for that year. I foolishly turned down a chance to go to Woodstock. I was not offered a chance to go to the moon, except by someone doing a Ralph Kramden impersonation.

Jami insist on having a mask due to the cooties epidemic in Milford elementary. Better put it on before some gross girl sneaks up on you

Who introduces himself as Jr? It’s like these football jerseys with Smith III on the back. Who cares?

And I have to think Lukey would have named the oldest boy after himself.

Doesn’t look like anyone is wearing masks. That would make it hard on the artist. Not a very colorful strip today

So Coach Luke’s kid doesn’t go to the school that he coaches??

So Jami still cries on the first day of school and Pedro is called “Bed wetter”. Is this the school for special children?

What’s the deal with the tears in P2? Mimi’s been away from Jami for well over a decade, now she’s emotional for the next seven hours?

Really surprised no one has referenced that Van Halen song “Jami’s crying”, which, for the record, I greatly dislike.

Mimi wants to make sure that Jami has his mask, since he will need to wear one while working in the textile mill.
