it’s like there is no continuity from day to day. either that or I go into a coma after reading and don’t wake up for a week or so and then start a new storyline

It’s a good thing labels were used to identify all of these non-entities.

When did Leo Ahzoutite get the nickname Torch? Wasn’t his nickname Chief?

The only Torch that graced Milford was Safety Tiki “The Torch” Jansen, transfer from New Thayer with an all edged slow Sister. Tiki would light up opposing ball carriers and receivers, whistle be d@mned.

Why would someone who graduated come to practice? They should be getting a job, getting ready for college etc.

Right. After his failed attempt to make the B League, I thought he would be a fry cook at the Bucket.

I don’t know HB or RW as a person, but as comic strip writers they suck!

The last time characters like this got names, it was the hockey team and they all disappeared a year ago after three strips. See ya Torch, wouldn’t want to be ya.

What’s with ToBe? Does he not know how to read? These new kids have their names floating right in front of them. And speaking of reading, you should be reading Mopped Up Thorp right about now.

OK, so guys who play on the ‘regular’ football team, which should be practicing now, are also practicing with the 7-on-7 team? Henry moves even further from how HS sports work.

    From today’s Comics Curmudgeon:

Traditionally we have been treated to Gil Thorp’s thrice-annual ritual recitation of the names, so we can all pretend to know who the players are as their season develops. But in this new fast-paced era, the kids just get little floating labels instead. I’m particularly intrigued by “Torch,” who I assume is an X-Men-style mutant who has the power to control fire, or possibly just a notorious arsonist. Either way, seems like an exciting football season is ahead of us!

    New Kids:

    a) Torch-apparently the local reservation is Gil’s farm team. Whigs thinks those kids all look alike.

    b) Oscar Capp- a hybrid of Henry’s favorite comic characters. Like Shakespear, Henry needs a jester to speak the truth and maybe give “good advice”.

    c) Austin Field- it’s unclear if he’s a sports figure hybrid or named after a rejected Joyce Kilmer poem.
