When a man says he would do anything for his woman he means fighting off bad guys and slaying dragons. Not vacuuming and doing dishes!

He would prefer to do wrestling in bed. Even if he loses, it’s more fun.

Washing the dishes should build up his strength enough thar he can win the wrestling match.

(You can see it worked for her.)

But the washing should build up his arm strength. At least so the theory goes.

Obviously some adjustments to sharing the load have to be settled more frequently that others.

I do the dishes about 98% of the time. I started doing dishes as a kid because my little bother, I mean brother, hated doing them and he would leave me alone for the few minutes I was engaged in that activity. Nowadays, I do them somewhat out of habit and it is a way to perform an act of service for my wife.

There are other chores I like less than “doing the dishes”. Putting away the leftovers, scrubbing the pots and pans, cleaning and wiping the counters can help the person doing the dish washing.

My wife and I have a fight over the issue. She likes to cook and yells at me if I am in HER kitchen while she’s doing it. My job is the after dinner cleanup. Then it’s me yelling at her to get out of MY kitchen. She’s well-meaning, but she gets in the way.

No matter what, if both of us are in the kitchen at the same time, we usually wind up fighting over water rights. No matter HOW well a kitchen is designed, there will never be enough room at the sink for two.

He ought to try love. People serve the ones that love them the most. I had a contest with my wife one time about doing the dishes and we looked into each other’s eyes and said in our minds, “I love you. You want to do the dishes.” Well, women have a marked advantage over men in that they can generate emotions faster and bigger then men. I took about ten minutes and her love got so big that I got up and did the dishes and I was happy to do it because she loved me. After that, whenever she wanted me to do something, she knew that all she had to do was to start saying in her mind that she loved me, I was up and ready to go. But I considered myself the winner because my wife loved me.

Simple rule in my house … One cooks and the other cleans up.

Both of us enjoy cooking and take turns in the kitchen as the mood strikes us. We tend to clean-up-as-we-go, so usually, all that’s left after the meal for the other person to wash, is the dishes, cups, glasses, silverware, and maybe a pan or pot.

Let the dishwasher do it. Of course then you could fight about who has to load and unload it.
