How old are their parents meant to be? I mean I was born in 1980 and yet I’m a big fan of 60s and 70s music, but still—everything their quoting is from the disco/funk era. It just seems… odd.
As I said on another site, used to be the music was beautiful and the singers, not so much. Now it’s the other way around. Entertainers that can’t sing, don’t play instruments and don’t write music, they’re all bling.
Music really is about personal preference. One person’s “jam” might be another one’s “garbage”. I personally prefer “old-school gospel music”, 80s love songs (and some 70s), and disco. That’s just me.
When I hear people complaining about “new music” all I can say is what can you say about rap that people had not said about rock n’ roll when it first came out. For that matter what people said about ragtime, jazz, swing, or any other form of popular music in the last 150 years.
