She was out with a client a big wig friend of one of the Koch brothers Ted Cruz meets Boebert gifts her 75k and convinces her to run for congress.

I could care less about her work as a prostitute or her abortions resulting from her work as said call girl my problem is her thinking it was just fine to have access to an abortion while she fights to insure others don’t.

GOP Hypocrisy is thy name.

The common denominator in most mass shootings is the weapons. Get rid of them and much of the problem goes away.

If many school systems are having trouble recruiting teachers now, just wait until the Republicans require teachers to be armed.

Of course, the standard response from the gun-crazy right wing continues be “arm the teachers!” Yeah, right, the same teachers who can’t be trusted to select textbooks, teach real American history, or bargain on their own wages and working conditions SHOULD be trusted every day with lethal weapons that are also within easy reach of those emotionally mature, stable teenagers. SURE, that makes all the sense in the world!

Actually, classroom discipline should be a lot easier if the kids were aware that there was a gun in the desk drawer.

If a child of Ted Cruz or any other anti-firearms legislation CongressCritter (CC) were killed or injured in a school shooting event, would said CongressCritter change their position to support for weapons/ammunition restrictions?

First: I don’t have any facts to support this conclusion, but I expect the number of CC offspring who do not attend private schools with excellent existing security measures, including small class sizes (makes a difference in student mental wellbeing) and adequate psychological counseling staff, well beyond the financial capacity of almost any public school is nil.

What about an instance(s) where a CongressCritter child/spouse/parent/sibling or other close relative is a victim of a mass shooting event?

This might make a difference to that CC, and possibly even to a couple of others.

But. Remember several years ago when some nut job opened fire on a Congressional softball game? Nothing in the form of preventive legislation came of that, if I recall correctly.

Now, if a large number of GQP CC’s had been killed and/or wounded that day on a similar scale to the worst school/church/Las Vegas music event mass shootings …

Women need to learn self-defense now more than ever since most teachers are women.

Arming teachers, even trained teachers sounds like a good idea, but isn’t. How long before a teacher accidentally shoots someone, loses a gun or a student gets hold of the teacher’s gun because they cannot get at the ones at home?

this is a quibble about something that’s always bothered me about this strip. it comes in two versions, one in español and one in english. “profesora vero” is fine in español, but why does lalo insist on the goofy “teacher vero” form of address in the english version, i’ve always wondered…
