No, it is not the “Gulf of America.” An executive order cannot alter the long-established name of an international body of water, which got its name when all land bordering it was part of Mexico, from La Florida, to Louisiana (before being sold to Napoleon who would then sell it to the U.S. to pay for his military adventures) to Texas to, of course, Mexico.
No, we are not going to invade Panama or Greenland or make Canada the 51st state.
Mt Denali is the name the highest peak in all of North America was known by for hundreds, possibly thousands of years by its indigenous original inhabitants, before it was renamed in 1917 to honor an assassinated president from Ohio who never once set foot anywhere in Alaska.
Not one vote was cast for Trump in support of any of these policies, all of which surfaced after the election was over.
People voted to lower the price of eggs.
All we have gotten so far is that Trump has ordered that prices should be INCREASED for seniors’ prescription drugs, and he has promised tariffs that will jack up the prices of all imported foods, and promised to deport half the farm workers and meat packers who produce our domestic food.
He plans to reduce or contract my combat service-connected VA compensation, SSI, medicare, vaccines, tax the unhealthy, and so on, free drug sellers, and killers serving life sentences
In other news, we’re all now female. Executive Order said we are all the sex we were at conception, so female. That includes Barron, Donnie was no where near Melania when he was conceived.
Maybe it’s just me but there were some concerning observations regarding the inauguration day of the U.S. president.
Firstly is the lamentable irony of an elected felon granting pardons to hundreds of fellow felons involved in the 2021 Capitol riot. And telling is the muted response from Washington and other police services and unions.
History will recall Inauguration Day 2025 as a day like no other — because all attempts at comparisons will be rendered futile.
A short review of the content of the president’s inauguration speech reveals it contained some of the same vitriol as many of his campaign speeches. Since when, in what is expected to be a celebratory speech, does fact-checking become a necessity?!
So, Day One is over. And none too soon. But with Republicans controlling both houses, Americans should expect two years of mayhem, which perhaps will be followed by two years of ahem — we told you so. (Bold Face Mine)
And of course the public is well aware of the president’s preoccupation to capitalize on his appeal, as the self-proclaimed billionaire tries to monetize anything and everything from boots to bibles, from (MAGA) caps to coins, from watches to guitars — the latter so fitting given his proclivity for “stringing the U.S. public along.”
I only wish the president would include headache pills in the items he shamelessly promotes. The common extra-strength brand is just not working for me.
Joint Statement from AG Brown, Twelve Other Attorneys General: State and Local Law Enforcement Cannot Be Commandeered for Federal Immigration EnforcementOLYMPIA – Attorney General Nick Brown, along with the attorneys general of California, New York, Colorado, Connecticut, Hawaii, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Mexico, Rhode Island and Vermont, today issued a joint statement addressing a memorandum from a Trump political appointee at the U.S. Department of Justice addressing state and local involvement in federal immigration enforcement:
“It is well-established — through longstanding Supreme Court precedent — that the U.S. Constitution prevents the federal government from commandeering states to enforce federal laws. While the federal government may use its own resources for federal immigration enforcement, the court ruled in Printz v. United States that the federal government cannot ‘impress into its service — and at no cost to itself — the police officers of the 50 States.’ This balance of power between the federal government and state governments is a touchstone of our American system of federalism.
“Despite what he may say to the contrary, the President cannot unilaterally re-write the Constitution. The President has made troubling threats to weaponize the U.S. Department of Justice’s prosecutorial authority and resources to attack public servants acting in compliance with their state laws, interfering with their ability to build trust with the communities they serve and protect. Right now, these vague threats are just that: empty words on paper. But rest assured, our states will not hesitate to respond if these words become illegal actions.
“As state attorneys general, we have a responsibility to enforce state laws – and we will continue to investigate and prosecute crimes, regardless of immigration status. We will not be distracted by the President’s mass deportation agenda.”

Still waiting to hear about the eggs.

Chato means “flat” in Portuguese, but can also be translated as “dull”, “boring” or “annoying”.
Fits perfectly.

I just read today’s editorial comic and, if I haven’t said it before, I’ll say it now: Lalo is the absolute best.

Nobody in the rest of the world will call it what Traitor Trump wants them to call it, nor any intelligent American.

Once again, the Canadian perspective:
“An inauguration with no comparison”
