In a typical morning I hit the snooze button thirteen times.
*I set alarms for 5:00, 5:15, 5:30, 5:45, and 6:00.
*Between the first and second alarms, I hit the snooze button once every nine minutes.
*Between the second and third alarms, I hit the snooze button twice every nine minutes.
*Between the third and fourth alarms, I hit the snooze button every three minutes.
*I get two alarms a few seconds apart at 5:45, though I usually turn them off rather than snoozing them.
*Somehow I have arbitrarily settled on the 5:48 alarm as the one I actually have to get up for.
*The 6:00 alarm is an emergency safety net so that if I turn off all the others and go back to sleep I’ll have one last chance of waking up while still having a decent chance of making it to work on time.
I know most people would find this a strange and annoying pattern, but it suits me very well. I find that getting up out of a deep sleep requires a certain amount of decompression.
i learned when I was 18 during my first job, that the snooze button was no good. I worked 6 am to midnight, both Saturday and Sunday, in addition to three 8 hour shifts during the week and college. my alarm clock has 2 alarms, so I set one for 3:30, and when it went off, I got to sleep two more hours!
There was an alarm clock called, “Clocky” that you could buy from one of those specialty stores, like Sharper Image. It had wheels on it, and if you didn’t shut it off immediately, it would roll itself off your dresser and seek shelter somewhere, like under your bed, all the while blaring an ear-splitting alarm. This forced you to get out of bed to seek it out and disable the alarm.

can the sound of the alarm clock possibly be any worse than the sound of her voice?

It’s way too early, even for Leroy, to hit the Booze Button.

In college I had a rommmate who would repeatedly hit the snooze button. One day, I had had enough and put an uncooked egg on top of the button.

You could make a fortune selling a clock like that.

My bladder alarm gets me up about every two hours. It sucks.
