There is some conjecture that the outcome of the Battle of Little Big Horn was determined by rate of fire: incoming arrows outnumbered outgoing bullets.

However, a few tracer rounds will serve nicely for lighting them up in many senses of the term. With the unfortunate side effect, of course, of revealing your position.

Why is it a rule of life that side effects are, invariable, unfortunate?

He just assumed that fire hands was included in firearms.

Could this be the precursor to tracer rounds?

When my dad was in basic training during WW2, he came across one idiot sitting on the barracks steps with a 50 caliber cartridge held between his legs, and he was attempting to hit the primer with a rock… (and somehow we still managed to win the war)
