I don’t think that’s a Waltz- looks more like a Wallop… – Either that, or they ended up doing the Tango Tangled…
SactoSylvia almost 9 years ago
So it looks like the wedding will have a reception that’s big/traditional enough to include a first dance?

Put the pointy head back on Brad.

Um… did Brad ever go to a dance in his school days and actually danced with a girl?

Thanks to all who chimed in yesterday in support of my contention that Toni exhibits control tendencies.Be it known that that does NOT translate into my being a woman-hater, as some intimated. Certainly, the most controlling person in my own life has been…..a man.Having said that, I do have experience with a person who controlled by what is called ‘passive aggression’. It is perhaps both the least obvious and the most insidious kind of control there is. The first panel today ‘could’ lead in that direction. Let’s hope not.

Dancing is a vertical expression of a horizontal intention!

Looks like Toni doesn’t waltz.
gnmnrbl almost 9 years ago
I think toni would prefer the horizontal mambo than the waltz. lol

Well they could go for a medium-size Wedding.

they say if you can walk, you can dance. But my feet don’t seem to understand that.

Brad wants an over-the-top wedding…where I come from, weddings like that range $50,000! I’m sure they don’t have money to even do a $10,000 gig. My daughter planned her own wedding, from soup to nuts and spent $2000 including her bridal dress, which was from a second hand store – the band was a friend who did DJ-ing. Inexpensive hotel rented them a party room and wedding cake was from Wegmans supermarket (and was better than most wedding cakes!). Food was decent. No better or worse than most places charging $500a head! I see Brad and Toni doing a shindig on the cheap at the Fuse. And it will be amazing. No need to spend crazy money for a few hours. Save it for a HOUSE.

Dancing lessons? A nephew and his wife did a beautiful dance at their reception, the dance lessons were worth it.

I do like Toni’s thinking! But, seriously, Brad and Toni need to resolve their wedding issues!
kenvilkid almost 9 years ago
Brad doesn’t even know how or who is to lead in a waltz … he won’t be able to lead a “big wedding”….let Toni have her way. It’s her day anyway.

Oh those long hugs… the closeness… the boob impressions…

I’ll bet they wind up having the wedding at his parent’s home or at the new “club”.

That looked more like Toni stepping on Brad than the other way around.

3Hmm. Not a lot to say or comment on today, I guess. Dancing is perhaps over-rated as an activity? If both Brad and Toni lack skills in dancing, perhaps it is best to avoid…. unless one of them is desperate to become better.

the way it is trending….weddings are only for the wealthy, everyone else, well….

Name of the game is compromise, small wedding of 25-50 guests.

I think Brad is just so thrilled to be marrying the girl of his dreams he wants all his friends to share in the joy. It’s not that unusual—my brother-in-law was the one who wanted a bigger wedding—not huge, the way they are nowadays—but bigger than my sister wanted. Though afterwards she was glad they did it. Just lots of friends and family and a nice but not expensive fancy reception,

Implausible…. very interesting points about the friends. It is understandable in some fashion because the more characters you add to a comic, the more diverse and confusing the story line may become… especially if it tries for linearity. But, what especially caught my attention about your comment was in the mentioning of the “shadow people”. I like that moniker a lot! :) But, here is my actual question… what if Greg (and Karen) end up drawing the wedding (wherever it ends up) and uses a “low depth of field” drawing style to create everyone behind the couple to be blurry “shadow people” and we see a huge wave of these “shadow people”? The huge number of “shadow people” would suggest a large group of folks knows Brad and Toni. But, as you suggested, we do not normally think that by what we see in the comic. BUT I could see a large array of “shadow people” being used to “fill the church (not that there will be one) to the rafters” with people.

From Mel Brooks and Carl Reiner, “The 2,000 Year-Old Man:” “The handshake was to see if someone had a rock, or a stick or something they could stick in your head – right? Right! Okay… BUT – you’re only immobilizing that one hand. Dancing is the complete immobilization of both hands, and you keep the feet busy so they can’t kick ya!”

Well, I’ll give Toni & Brad’s saga a C+. Being that over dressed in unsexy clothes sort of takes the romance out of a romantic conversation. Might as well throw a financial adviser into the mix.

Thanks for mentioning , " The Masochism Tango". I have a CD with the song in it.

I like a woman in a uniform (and partially out of one, too!) You’re breaking new ground, Greg, so Kudos to you! Hey, take a look at another (awesome in my book) groundbreaker, Brooke McEldowny’s ‘9 Chickweed Lane’ - there as well, currently, are two hardworking adults, naive, innocent, (professional classical musicians), in love, very not worldly, and trying to have a night of love together. Not exactly your plot arc (thank goodness) but sooo sweet. So yea, keep up the great work Greg. Love the sub plots!

Their dance moves are terrible.

While it looks like Toni stepped on Brad’s foot, there doesn’t seem to be anything here that would suggest Brad did anything to her. It’s a very moderate dip, and he’s not stepping on anything, so what’s her injury, exactly?

-SPOILER ALERT
Besides TJ the scam artist, name another friend of either Brad or Toni that isn’t family.
I think Brad can cross TJ off the ‘friend’ list…

Will the wedding be just for two, or will it go kablooie?
Hatjuggler1 about 8 years ago
Who’s going to pay for this big fancy wedding? Brad’s parents don’t have any money…Toni’s are dead. And as firefighters, they don’t have a lot of money.
