I do that to phone sales people. I say “just one second”, then walk away for a few minutes. Guaranteed the caller has hung up by then…and never calls back.
Microsoft and a few other companies I’ve worked with have the option for a call back. We are two and a half decades into the 21st century and 90% of the companies and government organizations are still in the previous century.
And then you’re left on hold, listening to obnoxious music so that you don’t miss when they pick up, and after about 10 minutes or more of that, the call is dropped. Rinse and repeat.

It must be truly difficult to make those kinds of recordings and not bust out laughing.

desvarzil, wonder how many times they have to do it before they can keep one that sounds good.

Any real live person is better than the automated, that doesn’t understand you,or give you enough time to punch in a row of numbers.

When they do this I consider it a message that they don’t really want my business, and I take my business elsewhere.

Words which have lost their meaning after the 100th repetition.
