At movie concession prices, that’s one expensive little car.

I went to see The Last Jedi recently. The theater started showing pre-movie stuff and previews before the official start time of the movie. The movie started after the previews ended, a half hour after the official start time.

I always think that the movie will start at the posted time. I will never learn.

In my area many of the movie theaters are changing out the seating to what, in airline parlance, I’d call “business class” luxury seating. And you can reserve a specific seat ahead of time with an app or at a kiosk at the theater. Thus you don’t have to arrive early to get a good seat. So you’d think you could arrive in the nick of time and miss all the commercials. Not so as this ’toon illustrates!

And it’s always a choice between finishing the popcorn before the movie even starts, or cold popcorn. I only used to buy the stuff because I wanted hot munchies during the movie. Now I don’t buy concessions any more. I hope they make their profit from all those ads, because they’re not getting a cent from me for their overpriced concessions.

Usually I wait for the movie to come out on DVD now. Watch it when I want, pause it for bathroom breaks, getting drinks or snacks, then start it again when I’m ready. Can’t do that in a theater. I hate missing part of the theater movie to run to the restroom.

I’ll say it again but it is a pet peeve of mine to have to watch advertisements when we are already paying top $ to see the movie! Raise the price .50 and quit showing commercials. We get plenty of those on TV!

at my theater the ads stop at the posted time, and previews last no more than 20 minutes.

Geez, I like previews! They help me figure out what upcoming movies I want to see. And, after some of the others, I mutter “thanks for the warning”. But they’re all enhancements to the overall theater experience — little mini-movies for free! If you’d rather skip them, just show up X minutes after the posted starting time of the main feature, where you can fine-tune X by checking your watch the first time you try it.

Don’t know when they started this here , but it was an old custom in Japan in the early sixties….adds for restaurants, laundry’s, etc. previews ‘til you didn’t want to come back etc. I only go to the “movies” about once a year -that’s all I can stand….Don’t you think they would get it ?….

Monty, you are such a nerd! Nice little project, though, if Gretchen (is that still her, or has Monty got a new girlfriend?) likes it….
