I enjoy (and enjoyed) algebra, and also the various other forms of math, many of which most of my friends have never heard of.
But back to algebra: I was enthusiastic about it, so I tried to interest other siblings. None were interested, except the youngest, who was in kindergarten. Not only did he think it was fun to try something new… he got it! We had fun together.
It wasn’t until later that I learned that many kids found it hard… and I still suspect that for most it’s because they were brainwashed by their elders into expecting it to be so.
Algebra was easy, trig was a breeze, even calc and advanced calc weren’t so bad. I could deal with differential equations, and even solved eigenvalue problems in Hilbert space. But tensors — I never quite figured them out. Same with solving some of the more gnarly PDEs I ran across in quantum theory.
I suspect that the fact that I learned Algebra when I was 12, in the 6th grade, before anyone told me it was supposed to be Hard is why I found it Easy.
We had a large Orange Tree in our back yard, so I was already familiar with that concept. No apple tree, but it was easy enough to substitute Persimmons.

Algebra is fun. But trigonometry is a living hell.

Algebra. My old nemesis. So we meet again, here, after all these years.

I also survived algebra, but it wasn’t one of my more profound experiences…

There’s a definite reason I did not name the strip ‘Mathtickle’.
