In Chinese, it’s “Pok Choi”. A tasty and very nutritious member of the brassica genius, also known as cruciferous vegetables. Mustard, cabbages, broccoli, etal., all belong. When cooked quickly in a light, high temperature oil, the stems are crunchy while the leafy part is soft with a hint of pepper. I grew up hating these nasty veggies, but now crave and grow them.

    @ Gigantor

Couldn’t get the reply function to work.

Vegetables aren’t annoying; they can be made into delicious side dishes with the addition of bacon. (Bacon wrapped asparagus cooked in a mixture of soy sauce and butter is yummy. Brussel sprouts fried with bacon is scrumptious.

VEGETARIANS who are religious about making converts, on the other hand, ARE annoying….

I love almost every vegetable. I have to confess to disliking a couple of them to the point of avoidance, Parsnips are very definitely one of my least favorites, with rutabaga, and turnips coming in second and third in the least-liked category. However, I was brought up to be grateful for whatever food was put on the table, and lived in far too many exotic places, where you often didn’t know, ( or want to know ) what you were eating, but out of cultural politeness and hunger, consumed it anyway,

Reply:.I’m a serious carnivore, but I do like my veggies, including turnips, asparagus, and especially Brussels sprouts. The only one I don’t particularly care for is celery. Otherwise, any vegetable is welcome to accompany my ribs, steak, chicken, or fish. Even lima beans. A salad bar in steak house is my idea of heaven.

Vegetables are the best foods one can eat. They have to cooked properly, that’s all… after all, pasta is made out of what started out as grass… now you wouldn’t eat grass, would you? or maybe you would…

Baby boy choi with garlic is one of my huge favorites!

It is almost as good as collards with garlic and ginger root.
