I wonder if I “Get” the cartoon……

Oh, I “get” snap chat. I just don’t need, or want it.

Snap Chat, isn’t that what happens after the rubber band lands or the towel pops in the locker room?

If by “get”, they mean I “get” what it is… Yes, I “get” it.

If by “get”, they mean I “get” the purpose of the whole thing… No, I don’t.

So you can send a photo which can be viewed for a moment, but then disappears forever? I really don’t get it. Why not send a photo that can be saved and viewed again later? A picture may be worth a thousand words, but once it’s gone, it isn’t worth anything. I guess if you want to send someone a picture of your ass and not have to worry about it being enshrined forever on the internet, it might be useful, but for anything TRULY useful? No. Don’t think so.

My ex-sister-in-law sent my niece a picture of my nephew getting engaged. She sent it on Snapchat. I didn’t get to see it. And since it was on Snapchat, it was impossible to pull it back up and view it again. She could have just as easily sent it using Instagram (or anything else, for that matter) and been able to view it again and again, even preserve it as a memory, but nooooooo…. she just had to be trendy and effectively throw it into the air where it would disappear forever.

Another thing I don’t get is this thing I refer to as “textspeak”. (“2 KuL 4 U” being the example here.) My antiquated bar phone is a pain to text from, but you’ll never catch me using that mess. I’m not that lazy, nor do I feel the need to try to look cool.

If Ageism is causing me to no longer follow the latest fad and become hopelessly ignorant of inane things I can now do with a phone……….I’m perfectly content. Thank you very much.

If someone wants to contact me, they can ring the land-line and if I’m out, they can leave a message. Nothing’s so important that I need to know NOW.

This is the first I’ve eve heard of snapchat. Now that I know what it is and that what you send “disappears” right away, I gave it some thought. It probably doesn’t “disappear.” It most likely is archived somewhere to be used against you by the PTB (powers that be) in the future, so beware and be very afraid.

Steve Allen was once asked if his parents, in the Midwest, got his Tonight show from NYC. “They see it,” he said, “but they don’t get it.”

I think that for the first time ever, I understand every comment and I agree with every one, too! It’s so good to know that I am not the only technical dinosaur left who is happy with the status quo! Zippity doo da!!

I wrote my first computer program in 1966. I had my first home computer in 1980. I sent my first email back in 1985. I had two computers on a network at home in 1986. I had my first cell phone in 1987. After a while, I stepped off the bleeding edge and took a vacation from technology. I haven’t been back since.

I own a computer. Several to be exact. None of them newer than three years old. I do own a cell phone: voice and text messaging only. I own a Facebook account, that I check on average every other day.

I own these things: they don’t own me. Technology is a useful servant, but a terrible master.

Not know what ‘snap’ stuff is; an don’t care. And, nothing to do with age or whatever. Little trends that are not; passing or maybe.

I love the dichotomy: we have the technology to communicate with almost anyone, anywhere, and yet are reducing ourselves to illiteracy.

Never heard of Snapchat before; don’t know what Instagram is; don’t text—but spend an inordinate amount of time on e-mail and Facebook. That’s more than enough.

I reserve the right to walk right on past your establishment without acknowledging its existence.

Twitter, Facebook…I can’t understand why anyone would be interested in what I’m doing or thinking at any given minute…a lot of narcissisism out there!

I have a cell phone for emergencies. (I’m in the middle of nowhere and my car won’t start.) Other than that, it is turned off. I agree with pcolli re. the landline

I too relish my privacy. I have a cell phone that’s not on much,don’t Twitter,Snapchat,Facebook,etc. No apps. I can walk and talk without looking down. My hands are free to do whatever. Not crabbing,just say’n.

“Snapchat”: Something for those too lazy to learn their own language. Of course, if that language is English, it isn’t taught in schools anymore, judging by the the widespread ignorance of grammar and syntax. I’ll give them a pass on spelling, because in spite of intensive training in phonetics, Latin destroyed my ability to spell English …=^D

Luddites. Change happens. It is part of the natural order of things. Inevitable. Privacy is an illusion. Try to learn to live with it.

Season 2 of Mr. Robot is coming soon. I watched season 1 and liked it I’ll watch it.
