I’ve always been partial to the Christian Bale version. Adam West always looked like a disguised ballet dancer gone to seed, although when it first came out I was young enough to enjoy it.
I hated Adam West as young comic book fan, I found that portrayal awful. I learned to appreciate it’s campiness as I got older, but it’ll never be my favorite. I’ll take Bale or Pattinson any day of the week.
And now cue “who’s the best Catwoman.” I liked Julie Newmar the best, followed by Lee Meriwether. Didn’t see Eartha Kitt too often but she would be my third choice. Never saw any of the Batman movies so wouldn’t be rating the movie versions of the character.
I want to say Lewis Wilson, the original film Batman from 1943, but I guess my only honest answer would be Michael Keaton; I haven’t seen (or been tempted to see) any live-action Batman since then.
Hold on — if Zeno2099 can vote Mark Hamill for best Joker, then I vote Kevin Conroy as best Batman. He was terrific.
I thought the Adam West “Batman” TV show was abominably, abysmally, PAINFULLY STUPID— when I was FOUR YEARS OLD! (I’m 57, now.) Pattinson has been the best Batman, followed by Keaton, Bale and Affleck. After that… it really doesn’t matter.
I loved Adam West’s ability to not take himself seriously. He did a few skits on “Politically Incorrect”. The one I remember most was Adam and Christopher Reid (from Kid n play) playing cops who are fixing to bust into a men’s restroom to arrest the guy in their. This was when Larry “wide stance” Craig was arrested for solicitation at the airport in Florida. My favorite thing Adam did was “Family Guy” playing the mayor. He was always just “there”. He had one-off lines that were always funny.

Surprisingly I grew up on the Adam West Batman but now am divided on who’s the best modern one-Michael Keaton or Christian Bale. ;D

With these guys in charge Trivial Pursuit’s got a new champ in the making. However, a complete wash out in math, science and history.

Yes, Adam West! The TV show approached Batman the way it should be shown…as a cartoon.

Nice to see Verne and RJ readily agree on something besides humans sucking.
