At a guess, I’d say that Woodstock was getting a little crusty there.

Leave it for the coons, skunks & possums .. they’ll eat it. On second thought, probably not good to encourage them coming around your house.

Feeding bread to birds is bad. They wind up with a syndrome that damages their flight feathers. Get bird seed instead.

Hey, Woody. You got that all wrong. Don’t think: bad food; think: patio deck.

This is really an old strip as it refers to when it was okay to feed bread to birds.

Maybe these “rats” that the cast is always talking about (but are never seen) would like it.

I would have scraped it first, and crumbled it into crumbs. Knowing our connoisseur here, he wants it scraped, buttered, and jellied served with tea and honey.

Most birds know the difference between bread and charcoal.

He didn’t mind it being dark (my late father loved it burnt) but was angry about not having marmalade…

The discerning bird can tell when you’re trying to feed it some crap.

I’d have scraped it iff, put some butter and jelly on it. These days, at the cost of food, you can’t waste anything

Some squirrels are also fussy, in a park that the tourists infest, only peanuts are always accepted, but bread bits get ignored by half of them. However in a different more rustic wild area, oyster crackers or torn bread is readily eaten.
