I still remember discovering Nacho Cheese Doritos as a freshman in college. We would each get a huge bag, sit down and eat until the bag was empty.

Indeed! What is your Fave? My choices ethnic to Tampa FL as well as a lot of South Florida in general are numerous but here are some of the best: chicharrones, fried plantains, guava pestillitos (guava turnover in a flaked crust).

I’ll still go for Pizza Pie. But only every other month or so. (Even though I’m not supposed to have any, I’m a diabetic.)

Scarfing junk food is a joy—but one eventually pays the piper. Not that I would know, of course.

That is, until Snoopy is spotted with a Big Mac on his breath, stumbles into a Colonel Sanders with a face as white as death, and they find him stretched out on his bed, with a pawful of Pringles Potato Chips and a Ding Dong by his head.

Okay Snoopy. However, junk food is something like alcohol. It feels great when you eat it, but oh! the aftereffects. And your weight!

They were already calling it junk food in 1975?? I can’t remember that. Back in ’75 a famous restaurant still had commercials featuring a Ham – burglar and a clown named Ronald Mack- Don – Ald making commercials directed at kids to come on down for the yummy food.

Especially considering that people these days are eating that fake plant-based crap instead of real vegetables.

No argument with a bag of grease, salt and fat. It is the inevitable let down of reaching the end of the fries. Oh well, there’s always a fried apple pie to reassure us.

There are chemically based reasons for taking pleasure in junk food. The lipids in fatty foods adhere to taste buds for a longer period of time, resulting in a stronger “taste good” sensation. And chocolate stimulates the same pleasure centers of the brain as sex.

It’s a match made in heaven.

The problem is, what’s junk food? I’ve seen it be said to be chips, cookies, things like that. Then I’ve seen it said of other foods simply because their not what certain individuals want you to eat. What is junk food to one is regular food to another.
