I find it funny when people move to a desert to escape their allergies, then immediately plant trees and grasses they are allergic to. And water the landscape, making it suitable for the weeds they are allergic to.
We have friends who retired and rented a place to park their RV trailer in Arizona and commuted spring and fall for a decade or so. But even driving a smaller vehicle that distance — and renting a place trailer that was already there — got to be a problem, so they’ve un-snowbirded (is that a thing?) and now live here year-round.
My uncle lives in Yuma. When we visited, my mom got a Yuma AZ magnet. Now she proudly displays it along with ones from the other “foreign countries” she’s visited.

It burns in Arizona! I don’t know how anyone can tolerate the heat!

The people there are also warm, bright, and empty, except not so bright.

Kind of off topic, but has PahU ever revealed what state Phoebe and her parents live in?

Same nitpick as the last time this ran: “whence” means “from where” so “from whence” is redundant (and the KJV translators botched it in Psalm 121:1).
