I don’t know what people are so afraid of about joining Costco.
My annual membership for two people is $55… I share with a neighbor, so we each pay $27.50.
A lot of people could save that in one shopping trip… but I don’t buy that much.
It’s true that I couldn’t use a Barrel O’Butter or Crate O’Crackers that people make jokes about…. but most things there don’t really come that way.
Not even those chips.
Sometimes you get 2 or 3 regular size bottles or 6 normal cans of something for a low price….
And larger but still reasonably-sized boxes of cereal, packages of cheese, and lots of other things are often the same price as their smaller counterparts at the supermarket.
Besides, every couple of years I seem to need a bigger item…. saving $100 on tires, or $50 on a new phone or tablet, more than pays for my membership, including the years I don’t buy as much…
and I occasionally give in and buy a $10 whole pizza (not great, but adequate and huge) …. or $1.50 foot-long beef hotdog that comes with a soda.
Costco is great for OTC stuff like antihistamines, ibuprofen, antacids, muscle rubs, many personal care items, baby wipes, laundry detergent etc. One big vat o’ detergent (which I cut by half with water can last me two years. Garbage bags, dinner napkins, – the list goes on. Perishables – well, only if I am making dinner for an invading horde!
Years ago, before the name was changed, there was a comedian who explained Price Club. He said “you go to Safeway if you want to eat some cheese; you go to Price Club if you want to build something out of cheese.”
I love Costco’s pumpkin pie, but since there’s just the two of us and he doesn’t like pie and their pies are HUGE, I only have it when my son brings me a big wedge of his. Sad.
…and all the money you save can go towards the health savings plan you’ll need because of all the unhealthy food in massive quantities you’ll be buying there. :-(
Holy cow….it will go bad before I’d ever finish it. Heck my smaller bags get stale. I have 12 of them on Saturday and Sunday along with my 25 Rold Gold pretzels (sodium is low so I have 25 each day), and a handful of popcorn.
I have the executive membership and get 2% back plus I use their credit card and get cash back, and it pays for the membership. Probably means I spend too much money, we would be starving, naked and sitting on the floor without Costco.

We buy dog treats and frozen foods at Costco, never perishables.

That’s my size bag of chips (in my dreams). Sometimes we’ve bought Munchies at Costco, I love them.

How big of a “Chip Clip” do you need for that?

Never been in a Costco, or a Sam’s Club, etc. Seems overwhelming, like Wallyworld..

Opal probably loves Earl more than the look on her face in panel 3 suggests.

This is why I love Pickles. It’s barely been nine hours, and there are already 79 loves and 18 Saved Comic Strips.

Costco. Ridiculous place. Nobody should need that much of anything.
