If he had better hair, he could try a comb-over, but it might not look better.

Male pattern baldness…cured me of “How does my hair look?” Honestly, when I was younger I never dared to leave the house without a comb in my pocket. I cannot believe how hung up I had been over my hair. Nowadays just one less thing to stress out over. I can tell you truly that vanity can wear you out! O the bliss of “I don’t give a rip.” LOL :-)

Sylvia, call in Dan and see if he can change his father-in-law’s mind about shampooing/conditioning his hair.

If Boris Johnson can be PM, nice hair can’t be all that important.

When you’re old, (and wise) you really don’t give a rip about looks anymore. It’s all about comfort.

I’ve been hoping to lose my hair since my early 40’s. 20+ years later, I’m still waiting.

    I consider myself very lucky!

I’m with him. Once I retired, I found a real sense of freedom from the dress code thing. When I need to shop for something, I try to dress neatly, but I don’t give a rap about the current style of whatever. After all, videos of crowd scenes, whether at sporting events, graduations, or funerals, show a range of dress from sharp to early dumpster. So since most people don’t seem to care anyway, who’s going to notice?

Being clean is what’s important. As long as he doesn’t smell bad and is happy with how he looks, he has the correct attitude.

I started cutting my own hair during the pandemic. I have a thinning mop, not worried what it looks like stylewise, just cut it shorter and out of my eyes. Works for me.

When there’s just a fringe and it’s not on top, there’s no point in worrying about your hair.

I was told of a relative who’d gone completely bald and who used to scrub his head with Ajax the bathtub cleaner. Said he didn’t want to take the chance he had blackheads! True story, BTW.

My hairline started retreating under the Johnson administration (Lyndon, not Andrew; even I am not that old – yet). By the Nixon years, it was no longer a retreat but a rout. I knew then it was “comb-over” time; my need for a comb was over. (sigh)

I was shopping for hair conditioner and saw many 2-in-1 products for women that were both shampoo and conditioner. Then I saw the men’s version. Those were touted as 3-in-1: shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. Somehow, I don’t think the ingredients were all that different. They just knew the guys were going to wash everything with the same product, so may as well put it on the label.

Didn’t you know bar soap is obsolete? I use liquid body wash on my hair as well as the rest of me.
