Is Opal’s banana peel sandwich on moldy, three-day-old rye?

I worked many years in the dietary department at a seniors’ retirement home. The day shifts were primarily staffed by adults but the afternoon shifts were staffed by students from the local high school. One time a resident asked one of them what soup was on the menu for supper. There were always two choices. The teenage girl replied, “Vegetable and cream of something or other.” I still chuckle over that response.

Conversation with a crockpot or a crackpot, probably a toss up.

Earl try the Fried Fart Sandwich !

Earl has just learned over the years that trying to have a meaningful conversation with a woman is like trying to train feral cats to sing opera.

Crock pot, crack pot, whatever!

Usually the comment is “Yes Dear” as he reads the paper!

Crock pot, or crack pot; one’s a cooking utensil, the other is Earl!

From what I’ve read, fried banana peels taste like bacon. If that’s true, it might not be too dreadful.

I’m surprised that Earl doesn’t say “surprise me” – and Opal would!

Since you’re not contributing anything, Earl, you better not complain when dinner comes around!

Earl has learned to eat whatever Opal feeds him. “Asking” is just her being polite and pretending it will matter.

They are out of soup. They are having chowder tonight.

All Earl heard was “sandwich” and “chowder”. Opal should know by now that she is not going to get any information from Earl when he’s busy reading the newspaper.

I don’t remember my Mom EVER asking any of us,Dad included,what we wanted for dinner…..

It is frustrating, You don’t know if your spouse has a deadened sense of taste or grew up eating bolgna sandwiches. I did most of the cooking in my second marriage. Otherwise, all my wife would cook was ratatouille or chicken curry. Very well prepared, of course, but not a lot of variety there. :)

I dunno, Opal… The crockpot was bitterly complaining just the other day about having to listen to you babble aimlessly!

It would serve Earl right if that’s what she fed him.

Ironically, a crockpot might almost make that palatable… ㋡

I almost married a female who thinks about food all the time… so glad I didn’t. (I make up stuff now when she asks me what I’m having for (insert eating occasion))

In some recent research I read that dried crushed eggshells are now recommended for dogs. Maybe it would benefit Earl. More than likely many people do.
