Way before Covid, I had outside cats that I would pet. I would wash my hands with sanitizing soap after each session. I had no clue where they had been.
When my therapy dog is on a patient’s bed being petted and a nurse comes in to take vitals, we will often hear that the numbers are the lowest they have been all day. Of course I suggest that I take my dog off the bed for the testing, but the nurses want her to stay so they can pet her too while the machinery does its magic. My dog does tend to leave people all soft and fuzzy. I still desperately want one of the 4000 rescued beagles but so far none are coming close enough to me.

Just removing your shedded hair. Doesn’t mean you are dirty.

(Sigh) Roscoe thinks, “‘Mondo Cane’! At least I’m not in a country where they eat dogs!” [as the song “More” plays in the background …]

You should feel offended Rosco. Studies have found that mens mustaches and beard are dirtier than a dogs fur.

Petting a cat definitely lowers blood pressure, increases satisfaction, and can be quite meditative. It may also have some benefit for the person. :)

Only time I have to wash my hands after I pet one of my two dogs is while my mini shar pei girl is molting twice a year. Some days she is greasy AF!

Regarding Earl, here’s a little Bob Dylan wisdom for you, Roscoe.
“His clothes are dirty but his, his hands are cleanAnd you are the best thing that he’s ever seen.”

Actually Roscoe, Earl is insulted all the time by Opal. Love Roscoe’s goofy smile in the second panel.
