The covid years saw most waiting room chairs go from a variety of padded or soft seats to functional plastic seats without cushions – very hard to sit for even a short wait. Guess they were easier to clean every day, which became the norm during covid.
Aldous Huxley once wrote a novel “Antic Hay” which featured a guy who invented trousers with inflatable pads for just that problem. I’m not sure why they are not available on eBay. Maybe it’s easier to just complain. :)

Yet you keep on sitting there, Earl.

I often envy those guys with extra padding back there. My boney rear end hates those hard benches.

When they made squishy benches, people complained a lot louder than that.

Why am I soft in the middle?
The rest of my life is so hard…"
Of course, it isn’t his middle that Earl is concerned with.

Would you want to get out of a park bench that was just right?

Another sign of the times. They don’t even make keisters like they used to.

I feel like an @ss for assking, but I want to get to the bottom of this. Are a boot-ee and a high knee the same thing?

Unfortunately, not everything for we old geezers.
Besides Transcendental Meditation was a big thing in the ‘70s and as useful as it’s high double digit inflation.

There’s a reason church pews are so hard. I just don’t know what it is.
