I had radiation therapy to my throat in early May. Kicked my salivary glands and beard follicles in the you-know-whats. I’m eating all that I want to eat… more even, and I’ve lost 10 lbs. This isn’t a lot but it’s the first time I’ve ever lost weight since I was on the water polo team 50+ years ago.
The docs tell me I’ll regain full function “pretty soon, probably”. At that point I guess I’ll have to start working at no midnight snacks. And trimming my beard.
Oh don’t get me started on how unfair this is! It’s basically because men’s bodies burn fat, women’s bodies store fat. So it’s harder for us to lose weight. At times like this we really hate men! LOL
I’ve had some dental problems that have led me to what they call a “soft diet.” If the scale at the supermarket is accurate, I’ve lost ten pounds in two weeks.
Well, I’ll await Neil deGrasse Tyson’s explanation on this. Heck, I loose that much by wearing my summer shorts, sneakers, and empty pockets to a doctor appointment.
I’ve been in Weight Watchers a couple of times, over the years. There were men in one group AND THEY LOST SO MUCH F-ING WEIGHT EACH WEEK!! Someone said their metabolism is different than ours, running “hotter”. They weren’t around for long since their weight loss was so rapid. We weren’t sad to see them gone because being jealous doesn’t work off any calories at all ;-)
In 2018 I had those radiation treatments and chemo, I lost about 45 pounds and still haven’t gotten my sense of taste or smell but has helped me keep the weight off.

Men have testosterone and that burns fat quicker than women’s estrogen. Darn estrogen likes to store fat. No fair.

I had a friend with a very variable weight. It would go up quite a bit and then come down quite a bit later. It was put down to ‘eat, dump, eat, dump’
