GPS? Bah. Who needs it!

I originally read this as, (looks like) Dog-Man is talking to a younger relative, but it looks like he’s talking to a PET dog (with the collar, I’m certain of it)… :-P

Then you have to turn right at Murphy’s barn that burned down 20 years ago.

Most pluggers have a hard time getting lost because the 18,000 miles they drive every year are all in the same county. There are a few who’ll put a few thousand miles on by just driving to the mailbox (and more than a few of those should really just walk the 50 yards).

My sense of direction is so terrible, I actually installed one of those compasses in my car waybackinthewayback. Trouble was, I kept forgetting to look at it & got lost anyway.

As for GPS, I hate it. It’s like trying to navigate thru a porthole. Give me a good treeware map any day so I can see the big picture. If I’m driving to a new place, I’ll go on Google or Apple Maps, print one out, & make notes if needed.

Speaking of GPS, what really gets me is the people who can’t seem to go anywhere without it, even if they’ve been there a gazillion times…

I had a friend who always used graveyards as milestones in directions. Pretty sure they were going to be there.

My son and his dad could do that. You find your way around in the wilderness with a compass.

The only problem with “Plugger GPS” is that times and names change. “Turn left at Johnson’s store” doesn’t work when old man Johnson sold the store twenty years ago and it’s now a Walmart parking lot.
