As a kid we had the only pool in the neighborhood – about ten feet across, and a foot and a half deep. All the neighbor kids would join us. During the day the moms would gather, gab, and have coffee, while watching us. One time I discovered that after we kids were put to bed, the grown-ups would take over the pool, along with their adult beverages.
I remember my mom and I sitting under a nice, shady tree with our feet in the pool and my daughter (5ish?) splashing around with her (9ish?) cousin while we sat and worked on needlework and drank ice tea and very low humidity for Northern Virginia. It was one of the best summer days I can remember. Hopefully it will stay burned in my memory for the rest of my life (memory is from 30+ years ago and going strong).

Set up long, long slip-slide with a roll of plastic. Make memories for the grand kids.

I suspect the kids on the other side of the fence will spend the whole day playing in the pool and screaming at each other.
