I’m retired, I stay up to 2AM reading GoComics and the other comic strip site and get up at 11AM.

Pluggers who have to get up at 3:30 AM are usually in bed by 8:30 at the lastest.

If we were still under Standard Time it would be 10:00 PM.

Reminds of the Leslie Jones joke about her younger self saying she’s going to blank all night and her older self replying “Why?”

I managed to sleep in until 5:04 this morning! I woke up at midnight, 2 am and 3:30 am, but managed to get back to sleep quickly each time. Not normal, but I take what I can get.

The only “Midnight oil” I burn is usually to wake up, turn the TV off and go crawl into bed.

My entire working life, I was a night-owl. I had kids and a full-time job so I did my housework and homework (a 2nd Bachelors and a Masters) after 10 pm. I averaged about 5 hours of sleep a night and needed two alarm clocks to get up in time to wake kids, make breakfast, etc. Once I retired, I thought I could go to bed when I pleased and wake up when I pleased. This is so, but the strange thing is I wake up early — before sunrise — on my own. It’s wonderful to have the peace and quiet and watch the sun rise. I go to bed whenever I feel like it (barring social engagements). But (to my doctor’s dismay) I still only sleep about 5 1/2 hours a night.

I didn’t even know you could still get midnight oil.

Oh, I can stay up after midnight, but now it ruins the entire next day. Just not worth it.

Hey, our Border Collies conk out at 9 p.m.; what’s good enough for them is good enough for me.

Neither of us have ever been morning people. As a child my mom would push me out the door half asleep with an unheated (my choice) pop tart in my hand for breakfast.

Over the decades I have started to go to bed later and later – especially since I have been self-employed with a decreasing as they age and die, accounting practice.

Since the start of pandemic it has gotten worse – nirvana for someone who does not deal well with waking early. We are having, as I post, our 3rd meal of the day – pre bed snack at 3:16 am. By the time we get to bed and settle in it will after 4 am and I will not fall asleep until around 6 am. Husband will wake up around noon and watch old TV shows (on Roku) in bed and wake me around 1 – 1:30pm to start the day.

Exceptions – when we have a reenactment event and have to be setup by noon or so and when my embroidery chapter meets one day a month.
