Twenty years or so ago, at 65, I managed to fall three times in one year. Learned that walking and balance must be practiced. Ours nerves need to renew “connections”.
During my mail-carrying career, no matter how carefully I walked, I would fall an average of once a year. Since I retired 20 years ago, I’ve only fallen once, and that was while salting my sloping driveway when it was coated with a layer of smooth ice.
I have reached the point when I have to take the advice I give to those I transport in my business: Remember a cane, a walker/rollator, or a wheelchairs are just tools to get the job done. The job? Getting to where you’re going without falling!

AS I’ve gotten older, I have found I can’t walk slow in cowboy boots. Faster moving legs must create a gyroscopic action.

If you fall repeatedly with no external causes, you need to have a check up. There are several things that loss of balance are a symptom for.
