Guess I’ll check mine later today after it runs. Way too dark at the moment!

Some of us have to check multiple times a day as it comes anytime from 9 AM to after 5 PM.

And on a Sunday, too.

Why yes of course me is forget theengs too.

My mailbox has a yellow flag that pops up when the carrier has opened it. No guessing if it is there yet.

Some days, I don’t even check the mail (mailbox is at end of LONG driveway) unless I am out for errands or something.

I get emails from USPS about deliveries, so many days I don’t check.

“It seems, as one becomes olderThat the past has a different pattern, and ceases to be a mere sequence—” T S Eliot. Hence, repetitive acts particularly, without time in the memory, become hard to “file.” The memory for checking the mail yesterday, is the same as the memory for checking it today.

No problem here, I can see out the window when he comes.

I check my mailbox several times a day as the postal person never delivers teh mail in the same time frame. It can be anytiem between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM

And don’t forget the days he forgets to check the mail at all…

never know if someone wants to “give you a deal” like the government. so gotta check it often.

Since most snail mail is forgettable (except for that vital bill), it’s understandable

the only thng in your mail box now, that thankfully the political flim flam is over, is gimmee gimmee gimmee fron countless groups wanting money!!

You check it once in the morning, in case you missed delivery the afternoon before and again in the afternoon for today’s mail. If you check it too soon, the postal carrier may be running late and you have to check again tomorrow morning. :)

i check twice because a neighbor could accidently receive something of mine and deliver it, and yep, has happened

Or if it’s a Sunday or a holiday: Once to put out the outgoing mail, & the 2nd time to remember “oops, no mail today,” go back out, & bring it back in so any checks don’t get stolen overnight…

I use the free US Postal “Informed Delivery” that lets me see what’s been scanned in for first class delivery each morning. Also shows what packages are scheduled for delivery. Saves a trip to the neighborhood collector box if it’s not important.

It’s according to who’s delivering Speedy Gonzales or a slow Loris.

If you are an old enough Plugger, you remember two deliveries a day. And Sunday mail service.

I check a second time to get my mail that was delivered to someone else’s address – lol

When we lived in an apartment before we bought a house, we started a hand-crafted business to try to make money towards, yes, buying a house. We did not want mail for the craft business coming to the house and I did not want to use my dad’s office address (I worked for him) so we got a PO Box at a local Post Office. (It was not the PO which delivered to our apartment as there were 2 other post offices – one of them almost next door to our house – which were closer to us than the one which delivered to us.)

Business never made it, but we kept the PO Box. In the interim we bought a house and moved here – about 1/2 mile from our apartment – about 35 years ago.

For some time the delivery here was not good – if we put in a hold on the mail as we were going away (up to Covid we would take a summer vacation and also go away several weekends a year) the carrier would deliver the mail anyway. So we switched our personal address for mail to that same box. Worked fine as if there was too much or too large a piece of mail they held it in the back for us to pick up.

Then Covid hit. Did not want to go out, but our mail was going to the PO not to our house. We would go in late Sunday nights every couple of weeks with the idea that the PO had closed around noon on Saturday and only a limited number of people would be coming into the PO in the interim.

At the same time we did find that we had much a better delivery person at home than before so little by little I switched almost all of the mail to come to the house instead of the box. We have kept the box just in case and also because sometimes someone who has the other address still mails to same – especially those in our reenactment unit. During Covid I had signed up to get emails when we received first class mail at the box, so know when something goes there instead of here.

Ah, the freedom of no longer having to check….seeing that our Posties are, yet again, on strike, just in time for Christmas….it’s a Canadian tradition!
