The good news: There may be Republicans willing to leave the sinking ship of Trump.

The bad news: What I feared in a Hillary presidency, which was that she would have had red coattails – giving her pretty much the same Congress that Trump had. The good news was that the House didn’t necessarily give Trump what he wanted, though the bad news was, the Senate did.

So fear I that if Biden makes it (and I hope he does), will he be saddled with Republican Congress that won’t allow him to start the healing process the country so badly needs?

Carmen, this is a party which ineffectually responded to a pandemic and allowed over 130,000+ people to die. They are talking about cutting off aid to tens of millions of unemployed. They are still kidnapping children from their parents at the borders. They openly destroy our democracy and representative government. They stand for one party rule, but only if they are the party. They used government resources against innocent citizens. They enable the systematic killing of Men of color.

Your large mammoth friend has a lot to atone for.

Trump is a Traitor.

The Republican* party suppressed all evidence.

Trump is massively corrupt and Republicans* aided, abetted, and took part in all the corruption.

Trump declared himself to be a ‘general’ in the ‘war’ on the virus.

Within a month he surrendered.

Then, he went back to sabotaging the efforts of governors who were trying to protect their citizens.

This is all after his destruction of the pandemic response structure that was in place when he assumed office.

How much more blood will he have on his hands by the end of his term?

President Trump’s defense of white nationalism — from his glorification of Confederate statues to his refusal to acknowledge, let alone address, systemic racism to his demonization of immigrants — is immoral and un-American.

Moreover, both the message and the mass events he uses to propagate it are unsustainable as the basis for a presidential campaign. Here are (the) reasons why:

If left-wing mobs are attacking the country, why doesn’t/hasn’t Trump done something about it? He’s president after all.

Does Trump have a plan (beyond statues) to address this non-problem? (Hint: It’s not a problem; it’s not “solvable”; and it offers nothing but a conduit for bile.) A president is expected to govern, not simply to vent.

Why should Americans care about statues when some 127,000 people are dead from covid-19 and unemployment is in double digits? His obsession seems especially bizarre given that the country is experiencing actual carnage thanks to his incompetent response.

Since no significant violence is perceptible, how does he sustain the illusion that his followers are under siege? (Watching a crowd tear down a Confederate monument or two is not exactly bloodcurdling.)

What states can be won without nonwhite voters, college-educated voters, young voters and suburban women (granted, there is some overlap among these) for whom his message is repulsive?

(He can hold his racial-grievance sessions in red states such as Oklahoma and South Dakota, but how do his messages play in states that are actually in contention?)

Who are these Democrats that he claims support violence? (I haven’t seen any of them on the ballot.)

Does anyone outside his cult think former vice president Joe Biden defends mayhem?

Just like in 2016, a faction of the Republican party has emerged to try to defeat Donald Trump in the upcoming presidential election.

The latest prominent Republican anti-Trump organization made its debut in early July. It’s a Super Pac called 43 Alumni for Biden, and aims to rally alumni of George W Bush’s administration to support the Democrat.

The best-knownis the Lincoln Project, a political action committee founded in 2019 by Republican strategists who have long been critical of Trump.

The Lincoln Project has made a name for itself for its creative anti-Trump ads. It has also brought on veteran Republican strategists like Stu Stevens, a top adviser for now-Utah senator Mitt Romney’s 2012 presidential campaign. George Conway, the husband of Trump adviser Kellyanne Conway, is also a co-founder of the group.

Then there’s Republican Voters Against Trump, a group led by Bill Kristol, a well-known neoconservative and former chief of staff to then vice-president Dan Quayle, and Republican consultants Sarah Longwell and Tim Miller.

That group is focused on organizing anti-Trump Republicans.

A set of Republican national security officials has also emerged in opposition to Trump.

Colleen Graffy, part of the national security group of Republicans opposing Trump, said the reason some elected Republican officials aren’t coming out to oppose Trump publicly is because they’re scared.

“They’re worried they’re going to be primaried,” Graffy said. “They’re worried they’re going to be tweeted, if that can be a weaponized verb.”

Asked what his big fear is now, Farner said it’s that Republicans won’t come out to vote at all.

Here is a checklist for fans of the “greatest of all presidents.”

Where’s the wall — and is Mexico paying for it?

Where’s the fabulous plan to replace ObamaCare?

Where’s the deal with North Korea to end their nuclear threat?

Where’s the racial healing in retweeting a supporter shouting “white power”?

Oh, didn’t he tell you in February the virus was going to magically disappear and then repeat it to you last week after more than 125,000 Americans died from it?

Now that’s a record of failure.

And here is one more question on empty promises for Trump’s biggest fans, white evangelicals:

Has Trump delivered for you after the Supreme Court’s recent rulings in support of gay rights and abortion rights?

Trump’s standing with evangelicals started fraying before the court’s decisions.

First, the failure to protect the country from the virus hurt him, especially with seniors.

Then evangelicals of all ages saw a lack of Christian empathy in his attacks on people standing together, across racial lines, to protest police brutality. “We’re one race and we need to love each other,” said Pat Robertson, a major evangelical leader.

If a few evangelicals decide a few more judges aren’t worth sacrificing their most cherished principles of Christian love and morality, they may end up voting for a white Catholic.

You, Bill Kristol, George Will, Joe Scarborough, George W. Bush, Mitt Romney, Colin Powell, David Frum, Rick Wilson, Jim Mattis…

This is the REAL “Walk Away” movement.

Some say no one is beyond redemption.

Sorry, there are now 2 parties, the Dems and the Right-Wing Populists. There are no conservative parties remaining.

Perhaps the enlightened “Republicans in Name Only”, or RINOs, should, after getting Trump and his sycophants out of office and restoring some sense of reason to the party, should retire the elephant in favor of a rhinoceros! The GOP as it is now, and as represented by the elephant, has got to go…America can’t survive them as they currently are.

Talk about an elephant in the room!

At this rate, Mexico will pay to have the wall built… To keep US in.

Well at least he’s well known for being a right of center Democrat on issues the Establishment GOP like Project Lincoln will support.

The greatest thing that Trump could do for the country right now is to resign.

I wish I could read what’s on the elephant’s shirt. It looks like circle-slash over a gun — highly improbable for a Republican.

Freedom to vote and have it count. Democrats don’t like that. Mail in your ballots so they can be changed to the right party and let the dead vote. Its the Left’s way.
