If there’s nowhere to park, I’d like a self-drive car that could let me out at the chemist and drive around the block until I come out.

AI is fine with things like traffic lights. It’s people who are random and unpredictable.

Thankfully the A.I. knows when it is safe to run a red light.

If you have a navigation system, have you ever wondered how the tiny icon of the Speed Limit sign reliably changes to match the Speed Limit sign posted on the road you are driving on? Also displayed in Heads Up displays. How does that happen? Have you figured it out yet? TSR. Traffic Sign Recognition. Is that AI?

They have special software for cars in Montreal. You accelerate 4 times faster than normal and slam on the brakes if the light has been red for 3 seconds.

My dentist now has an “AI” assisted customer “service” phone menu app that’s good at saying “I’m sorry about that” …!

Traffic lights, yes. Large emergency vehicles with flashing red lights stopped in a traffic lane – not so much.

So a self-driving car can “prove” that it’s “not a robot” when asked to identify traffic lights? Can it do as well with bicycles and motorcycles?

a person walking their bicycle was killed by one of these crazy cars… it was programmed to yield to a pedestrian, or a bicycle, but not a pedestrian walking a bicycle. I’m so fortunate to be living in a much smaller city where self driving cars will never be an issue in my lifetime… (having said all that, the cars controlled by people don’t seem to do much better!)

Im waiting for the first time I get a package delivered by a self-driving car and robot. Though I hear drones are already being used. Nutty!
