The first sunglasses were invented sometime in 12th century China. They were a crude slab of smoked quartz that was made to block out the light from the sun. The primitive frames were roughly shaped frame to hold them against the user’s face. These darkened lenses, made only for the very rich, were not vision-corrected, nor they protect against harmful UV rays, but they provided some relief from having the bright sun constantly shining into user’s eyes and were also used to hide emotions from others when speaking with them. This was particularly handy for Chinese judges of that time who had routinely worn smoke-colored quartz lenses allowing them to see emotionally detached from the topic being discussed and to conceal their feelings while questioning the accused. http://www.glasseshistory.com/glasses-inventor/who-invented-sunglasses/
I’ve never done this before, but I’m going to challenge BION accuracy on the sunglasses. That doesn’t sound plausable at all. I guess put me down for “NOT”.
To add a little clarity – if this were intended as propaganda, why is there only one? After all, the central principle of propaganda is to “Repeat The Lie, until it becomes so prevalent in the public mind that it is accepted as true.” I f that were the intention, installations like this would have begun appearing in locations all over the country. But, in the nearly 40 years of its existence, it is still the solitary example. Granted, there is the American Humanist Association, but it has been around for nearly 90 years, and has published a Manifesto, with two main revisions, by contributors from many disciplines, including the religious. And – it has never claimed to have any involvement with the Guidestones. There was a publication titled “The Secular Humanist”, but it has ceased publication many years ago, no, as best I know.
The Georgia Stones were defaced in 2008 and 2014. 2008’s vandalism featured “you will not succeed”, “Jesus will beat you Satanists”, “No one world government,” etc.. 2014 had “ISIS, goddess of love” sprayed on the stones. Ironically, it appears religious propaganda, especially evangelical /fundamentalist Christianity, has clearly and simply influenced far more to acts of intolerance and senseless destruction than the creators of the monument ever imagined.

The judges may have invented dark glasses, but they weren’t sunglasses if they were only worn inside.

The paradox of the GA stones is to rebuild civilization so it can crumble again.

Look up Nero’s sunglasses. I believe he predates 12th century China by about a 1000 years.

Let’s be clear: the Georgia Guidestones are a secular humanist manifesto. It is propaganda, pure and simple.
