Medicinal alcohol was allowed by doctor’s prescription during prohibition. Many people sought that option.

What was the Brit Winston even doing in the States? Wasn’t there even Prohibition back in the UK?

My fear of cats depends a lot in the size of the cat.

Was Churchill’s doctor an ancestor of Trump’s doctor?

And a friend of Churchill’s famously warned against phobophobia, though he was not the first to call attention to it.

Among others, the 16th century French writer Michel de Montaigne (the world’s first great essayist) wrote “…the thing of which I have most fear is fear.”

Now that’s just preposterous. How can they smell outer space’s “smell” when they’re always inside that fully covered suit with breathable air? They’re just smelling the air inside their suit or inside the space station or spacecraft, and not outer space.

If you’re afraid of cats, you’re a real puss—I’m kidding, I’m kidding! Anyway, I can see how it’s possible. My cat is quite scary when he’s angry.

Not surprising, that the smell of space is like that because it’s the result of so many fires and explosions, especially one really huge one about 15 billion years ago.

If you knew the details of the cats’ plans to takeover the Earth you would be afraid too! :-)

Churchill was hit by a taxi cab going at high speed in Wall Street, NY. The doctor who treated him certified his need for “spirits” with his meals. Probably fearing his forced withdrawal could be detrimental to his recovery. I don’t think the word “indefinite” was in that note.

Dear Winston once said to a socialite who accused him of being drunk, " Yes, my dear, I am drunk, and you are ugly. Tomorrow, I shall be sober, and you shall still be ugly" Alcohol never dulled his tongue.

Ailurophobia. That’s what a lot of people developed last year after watching Tom Hooper’s bomb.

I actually know someone with that phobia. I’d never met anyone who was actually afraid of cats. Dogs, yes. My paternal grandmother hated cats with a passion, but I don’t think it’s the same as having a phobia.

Methinks these astronauts are getting a bit of spent fuel fumes in their noses at some point.

Take care, may the hoard be with you, and gesundheit.

The space smell bit is from what astronauts have described in the “air lock” portions of space stations and space shuttles, not outer space itself. It smells different from the interiors of the spacecrafts themselves.

Churchill was a functioning alcoholic. I wouldn’t take away his “medicine” either.

    Astronaut’s flatulence varies by diet.

Churchill’s physician was Dr. Johnnnie Walker

My Ailurophobia has been cured by my COVID-19 phobia. I test every morning. I know I’m good when I smell the litter box.

Years and years ago, when I was an orderly, I saw a doctor write out a script for “1 oz ‘spiritus fermenti’ /nightly” to be given to one of his (very) elderly patients whilst in the hospital. It was for wine, I think….

So weird to think that space has a smell… and to smell like something has been burnt or fired somehow is very interesting. I have never even given it a thought before. so interesting! But I am curious how they could know it smelled that way…they can’t really breath in space, can they? ;) Maybe the smell leaks in to the space station or capsule somehow? Hmmm

My mother feared and hated dogs and cats. That’s why I always had one or two around at all times. The last time she visited we had reached our number of cats at 4, soon the be five, and our female Lab had just given birth. To a litter of 13. Kept her away for almost 6 months. Pure bliss.

My grandfather had a prescription for a daily shot of Old Granddad. The nursing home nurse kept it with the other prescriptions and brought it around on the med cart on her rounds.

Winston Churchill single-handedly kept the liquor companies in business throughout prohibition.
