Kudos to the inspectors, and I hope the nosy neighbor spikes 40 points on his/her blood-pressure every time they see the stand in business and making money for the lad. Maybe the young man can use some of the money to take out insurance on said neighbor, so that when s/he strokes out in an apoplectic fit of rage over not being able to micro-manage his neighbors, the lad will have his tuition for college as a bonus, then, and not have to fall into the student-loan trap.

Woodpeckers! That home must not have had insulation. And I bet California has laws protecting the woodpeckers. That’s a good thing. But why didn’t they notice the birds busy work. Cutting the holes, frequent trips, are people oblivious to their surroundings. Did someone buy an abandon house?
That bit about inspector helping out instead of fining that kid for a hot dog stand is hard to believe, especially in Minnesota! They’re the ones who usually shut such enterprises down!

Oooohhhh. And here I thought it was because of sitting in it barefoot without long pants on.

The neighbors should not have called the health inspector right before lunch, when he was hungry.

Hooray for the kid! Speaking of hot dog stands, the one I visited in front of Westminster Abbey in London had the most delicious hot dogs ever.

Grass. That reminds me, it’s tree pollen season now, with lots of sneezing and itchy eyes.

Two woodpeckers, 700 pounds of acorns? Sounds more like two ancient Plesiosaurs.

In southern Indiana there are chiggers in the grass. Those will make you itchy. And scratchy.

I didn’t know woodpeckers stored acorns. I thought they were into worms and larvae and not plant fruit.

They don’t call ‘em “blades of grass” for nuthin’ apparently.

Woodpeckers don’t collect nuts, they peck for insects.

Grass can also make you itchy by allergy.
As for the woodpeckers, yes that has been reported of blue jays and scrub jays as well.
