Careful, don’t drop a fish in the pool, cats will jump in the pool and wound you.

They have sardines in mustard sauce or hot sauce.Either should prove a suitable kitten deterrent.

The scent of sardines does carry, & kitties’ noses are as keen as any dog’s.

Reminds of Rod and Spenser; they bonded over a tin of herring. Rod was a Swede, Spenser was a cat.

Eating them outdoors was an invitation: cats can smell stuff in the open air like sharks can smell blood in the water.

    Sardines! Ugh!

the woman at the end of our cul-de-sac wants our neighborhood to have an HOA and she wants to be the president of it! neither of them is gonna happen while Hubby and I own a house here.

But what we really, really hate is that she baits her cat trap with sardines! (She says she likes to eat them too. yeah, right. . . . then again, she just might.) Yesterday, there was a young black cat in her cage and when she came out of her house to look, it had been in the sun so long the cat was panting. She was “nice” enough to throw some water on him but she at least had moved the cage into the shade. Animal Control came within a few minutes.

He never sees the cage in the sun so – so far – he has no reason to remind her that leaving a cat in a cage for longer than overnight (he had chewed up the plastic container for water) and in the sun will get her an expensive ticket for cruelty to animals. and that’s beside the cruelty part. The cat had been in the cage so long that he had pooped himself!

As always, she came and rang our doorbell to have us see if this one was one of ours. She had previously caught our Tom Dooley in her cage and had him up to the Animal Shelter before we knew it. (It cost $100 to get him out of Cat Jail, but he did get his yearly vaccines – only 1 month early.)

SO!! I bought some (ugh!) sardines for our own formerly feral female felines. (Our own 4F Club!) Thing is, we’ve already spoiled them: they only want the juice! But the things do get eaten when they are mashed into a pulp and some hot water added (to facilitate making sardine juice).
