Why would you use a fork for pitch?

Neptune and Mermen have tridents.

Pitchforks. Don’t be an angry neighbor without one.

Pitch forks are easier to carry in an angry mob than a gas leaf blower.

Fire can be sustained under water. Takes pressure etc, but it’s done often.

A friend of mine was a US Navy diver, they have torches for working under water and another friend worked in the shipyards doing repairs.
