Most fans are like the poor guy in the middle.

These fans are why I hate the singing of the anthem at every sporting event – that and the fact fans want to turn it into their team’s song by screaming out one or two words.

    It’s a flag, not a blindfold.

It’s a piece of cloth, not a straitjacket.

Thanks for knowing how to spell “straitjacket.” You may leave school early today.

Every sporting event I’ve been to, while people stand during the anthem, most cheerfully continue their conversations during it just like these bozos today. Yet the same people preach about the troops (while never having served themselves, obviously) and the flag.

Hey Mr. Hinds, can we please move on? Not many people really give a hoot about Colin Kaepernick.

It’s good to remember that ONE NFL player went to Viet Nam.

    ONE!

And the NFL paraded him like a show horse.

And at one point, almost all of the Baltimore Colts’ roster was in the same National Guard unit.

    .

Of course, we all know that getting your players out of their military obligation is not the true test of patriotism. Getting out of your military obligation means that you are schmart, — like finding a doctor who will attest to your bone spurs.

No, the true test of patriotism is to punish a player for exercising his rights,

    and

to allow the military to put on ‘tributes’ to military heroes with giant flags.

    That’s REAL patriotism.

It’s not unusual for kneeling to be a sign of homage, and respect as well – standing can be seen as arrogant and supremacist, too … a mixed bag at best – and rather pointless. And let not forget the NFL player who quit to join the army and went to Afghanistan, only to be killed by ‘friendly’ fire, and come home , under a flag. Too many contradictions to count.

why is it again that it’s necessary to play the national anthem at sports events…?
