I loved that old 80,000 seat Stadium.Cleveland vs.Oakland.Saw a game there where either McGuire or Canseco hit three homers in a game;and the other one hit one.
And late in the game, chap named Reggie Jackson(in his last year) decided he might as well get into the act.Probably one of the last homers he hit in the big leagues.
Of course, that was the year Cleveland’s top starters were SteveCarlton and Phil Niekro;both pushing 45 from the wrong direction.
The Red Sox were playing in the old ballpark once when the fog rolled in off Lake Erie, prompting Oil Can Boyd to comment: “That’s what happens when you build a stadium next to the ocean!”
When the Browns drafted Baker Mayfield, I thought we’d have a decent starting quarterback for years. Never in my wildest nightmares did I expect they’d screw things up this badly. For almost 20 years, they searched for a decent starting quarterback. I’m sure most of you have seen the Browns jersey in the store display with all the names on it. Now they’re discarding the best quarterback they’ve had since Bernie Kosar for a questionable human being. Deshaun Watson is a sex addict at best and a sexual predator at worst. We can reasonably expect Watson to be suspended for at least the 2022 season. What is Watson’s level of play going to be after two or three years off the field? They gave Watson a totally guaranteed $240 million contract. What’s his motivation? By trading for Watson, the Browns have upset the fans. By completely guaranteeing his contract, they have angered the other owners. Once again, the Browns are the laughing stock of the NFL. Suddenly 0 – 16 doesn’t look so bad. I’ve rooted for the Browns since I was in the third grade. That’s more than 50 years. I’ve had enough and I’m clocking out. They don’t call it “The Factory of Sadness” for nothing.

Baker Mayfield may not be the solution, Deshaun Watson will make everyone yearn for Johnny Manzel.

That Cleveland spirit has nothing on the granddaddy of them all, the Spirit of Philadelphia sports disappointment and pessimism.

I had to laugh, even though I pity those hapless Cleveland fans. Cheer up guys … you could be living in Detroit!

Could be the first time in NFL history where the coach sends in a play and a subpeona from the sideline at the same time……..
