Chesney, I fear you may be the one to go to the hospital.

Years ago, my grandparents had a small fluffy white cat named Penny. One day, the neighbor’s doberman started barking very loudly at her. Penny launched herself at the dog’s face with all four sets of claws and send it cowering back into its doghouse.

    Never underestimate the cat.

I’m lucky – again – I didn’t end up in the hospital yesterday. I lost my momentum picking the last of my cherries and fell sideways off the 6th rung of the ladder! Landed on my shoulder in a thick patch of clover on soft ground and don’t even have a bruise! Lesson learned, always keep one hand on the ladder or tree branch.

One day on my family’s ranch, I saw a big puppy learning about farm cats. He decided the smart thing to do was to barge right up and poke it with his nose. What he learned is that parts of a cat are extremely sharp. The cat actually showed quite remarkable restraint.

I once saw our tiny kitten swat a giant dog across the nose. He had to put one paw on the dog’s chest to reach and balance. The poor dog was humiliated, but didn’t retaliate, and the kitten strutted off like a Chesney.

    4. Run! As fast as you can! (Unless you’re Lily, in which case, the poor dog is doomed.) On another note, saw a robin, two finches, two swallows, and three juncos while out walking today.
