Well, 2023 was not a great year. I lost two people I loved. My brother, Paul and my cousin, Becky. And I lost one cat, Uno, just 5 days short of her 14th birthday.
But it wasn’t all bad. I published my first book, “Wanda Weird”. I got a new kitten, Raven. And I was finally able to pet my Annie, and I have even been able to pick her up a few times, though she doesn’t tolerate it long. And while 3 of my formerly feral cats got out an upstairs window and disappeared for several days, I caught all of them again. So, I had some bad and I had some good.
I hope 2024 brings nothing but good to everyone. Happy New Year!
MAKE UP YOUR MIND DAY. I will make up my mind whether to take down my Christmas tree today or wait until tomorrow. The cats have been climbing in it and have knocked off a lot of ornaments and messed up the beaded garland. So the tree is sort of a mess. Maybe it’s time to take it down. I’ll make up my mind about that in the morning.
Love her condescending end to the year. Sadly, I DID NOT GET MOLLY after all. She was the perfect dog when I spent time with her and her 70 year old volunteer walker on Friday, but when I returned yesterday she was like a wild animal, bouncing off the walls and jumping on the counter in the office. The staff kept warning me she was extremely high energy, I even asked if they had brought out the right dog (they had 2 other shepherd mixes). I could barely hang on to her outside and she had already been walked 4 times that morning. Way too much energy for me to handle, especially considering she would live with Fred.
You tell ’em, Lily! As for me, my health kinda sucks off and on, but basically, life is pretty good. Missy, the new kitty in my life, is still adorable, although she eats anything and everything, and keeps knocking everything off the refrigerator for some reason. Yeah, from a cat point of view, it was a pretty good year. Have a grand celebration, folks!!
Happy New Year’s Eve, everybody! I’m hoping for some good times in 2024. Unfortunately some comics (e.g. Barney & Clyde, Buni, B.C., Reality Check, Brewster Rockit) have taken a somewhat pessimistic approach to 2024. Thanks a lot, jerks! >:( Way to ruin 2024 before it even starts. What a bunch of buzzkills. Just because it’s an election year and a leap year doesn’t mean it’s going to be completely miserable. On another note, saw five chickadees, two golden crowned kinglets, and a varied thrush while out walking today.

Isn’t ‘dismissed’ implied by ‘toodles’?

At least it wasn’t an “annus horribilis” as Queen Elizabeth once defined a year.

It was strange this year to have a “King’s speech” for Christmas after a lifetime of “The Queen’s speech.”
