As she carried her burden, her demise was foretold…

as her lungs had burst forth with a cough uncontrolled.

Her frame was unsteadied; the load it did shift.

Her sister behind her rushed forth just to lift…

and prevent the slide’s progress, stopping the slip…

just in time for her loved one to regain her grip.

Disaster averted, they both forged ahead.

As they laid down their harvest, the stricken sister fell dead.

The stronger survivor tried to raise her, in vain…

when her sister’s ghost whispered…“I know no more pain.”

Those words stemmed her anger, her grief, and her cry,

For her sister had taught her not to fear when you die.

I’m not sure why I wrote this, other than to try to allay anyone’s fear of dying, and to try to assure them that a loved one’s death marks the release of theirspirit.

I believe that the first law of thermodynamics teaches us that “the total amount of energy (the Spirit) in a closed system (the body) cannot be created nor destroyed (though it can be changed from one form to another).”* To me, that means our corporeal entity can become an ethereal entity.

We are all free to live on, in one form or another.
