“If he doesn’t die or get sick, we can have a drink.”

Wine out of sheep’s bladder is so romantic.

He ordered the freshest milk in town.

/// Before Abraham’s man, Eliezer,

met Rebecca he planned to appraise her.

He had come to the well

where his master’s kin dwell,

and he focused on her like a laser.

/// Eliezer had been tasked to find

a young woman, hard-working and kind.

If she passed every test

and exceeded the rest,

she, with Isaac, in wedlock would bind.

/// ‘Becca offered him water to drink.

All his camels, too, quick as a wink.

Eliezer then knew

she’s the bride-to-be who,

with the Matriarchs would be in synch.

/// So by slaking this traveler’s thirst,

young Rebecca was soon reimbursed

with a golden nose-ring

and the promise he’d bring

her to Canaan to be Isaac’s first.

Isaac is one of my favorite characters in Genesis, and his very odd interactions with Rebecca make for fun speculation.

Her story is not holding that much water.

“No, this isn’t what I thought he meant when he said he wanted to bury his face in my jugs.”

“Thank you, and don’t forget to carry water to my flock…”

Reminds me of a line from an old Hercules movie, where Herc said something about drinking where her lips had touched the chalice.

Maria asks her friends, “Is that a gun in his pocket or is he just glad to see us?”

Apparently, the early digital cameras did not have autofocus.

Certainly not dating…just drinks and a one night stand………..

“You see ladies, cut back the wool of dog and replace the blind worms sting with a quart of Everclear and you have a much more marketable cocktail.”
