Don’t forget the book she wrote, “Gargle’s Cauldron Classics”.

Mine is the Louisiana Kitchen, by Paul Prudhomme. Ma Gargoyle probably couldn’t do any cookbook justice anyway.

The old cookbook recipes usually started with “render 1/4 cup of fat…”

I agree, that way I don’t have to clean up the dishes and stuff… you know, put the leftovers in containers.

There was another “Joy” book that was very popular, even made into a National Lampoon movie.

I would be tempted to go with a cookbook that specializes in kosher cuisine – “The OY of Cooking”.

    I’ll see myself out.

America’s Test Kitchen Cookbook is the best, IMO.

the best recipes start with: Drink a class of wine – white or red (tall glass) and pour rest of bottle in pot (yeah) New Orleans Cajun, Justin Wilson. I miss the old Boy. Justin E. Wilson was a Southern American chef and humorist known for his brand of Cajun-inspired cuisine, humor and storytelling. died 2001. Sure ole soul Brutus and Justin had a lot in common. Down to Earth Kindly Goodness.

Mama Gargoyle’s husband must have been a very good person for putting up with her and God really demonstrated his love and mercy for him by bringing him back to Heaven early……

My mother was a great cook. Nothing fancy, but good southern cooking. But, once a week, we’d go out to eat, usually to a cafeteria. I used to think we were very successful. Momma kept a roof over our heads and money in the bank. The houses were small, but adequate for our needs. And who knew how much money there was.

I like a mix of the two. It’s always nice to have someone else do the cooking and cleaning, but there’s nothing like a home cooked meal, made the way you like it (plus it’s easier on one’s health and wallet). I’ve always thought that if I won the lottery, the first thing I would do is get a chef. I don’t care about a mansion or fancy cars, but to have someone cook what I want in the comfort of my home is ideal.

I tried to follow some recipes in a cookbook once, but never got past the first step, “Take a clean dish …”
