But Chief, if you let me leave work early, the fewer things I might mess up. It could be beneficial to you and save money in the long ran.

On the other hand, he might as well leave early. Because how much work can be done for the remaining time if the boss puts a waste basket over your head? Do you dare to ignore your boss’s wishes and defy him by taking it off your head?

I , in my simple mind, would take that too mean, “Take the trash out on your way home”

or he was telling you to throw your time away for him instead. :\

You should take it as a compliment Brutus. Last week Veeblefester told you to leave early because of your lousy week of work. So this week, since he won’t let you leave early, must mean he thinks you put in a good week of work.
